Please note: this service is not suitable for:

1. Those with an autoimmune disease.
2. Those who are pregnant or nursing.
3. Those with pre-existing skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea in the brow area.
4. Allergies: Inform your technician of any allergies or sensitivities, particularly to pigments or anesthetics, to avoid any adverse reactions.
5. Medications: Certain medications, particularly blood thinners, can affect the healing process. Be sure to discuss any medications you’re taking with your technician.
6. Recent Procedures: If you’ve had recent facial or brow treatments, such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion, it’s wise to wait until your skin has fully healed.
7. Sun Exposure: It’s recommended to avoid sun exposure or tanning beds before and after the procedure, as it can affect the healing process and the final colour outcome.

Before your appointment: Preparation Guide

1. Mandatory complimentary consultation: book your consult with technician Mattie by calling the spa at 613-235-7722 or by contacting @estheticsbymattie on Instagram to ensure you are a candidate. This consultation must occur at least four weeks before your expected Powder Brows appointment with Mattie.
2. No botox or filler 4 weeks prior to your service.
3. Avoid sun exposure 1 week prior to your appointment.
4. Avoid any nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, aspirin, or advil for 1 day prior to your service.
5. No chemical peels or chemical exfoliants 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
6. No exfoliating 48 hours prior.
7. Mattie encourages patch testing: applying a small amount of pigment into the skin to determine whether you are allergic to the pigment. This is optional.

During your appointment: What should I expect?

• The appointment will be 2-3 hours long for the initial appointment.
  *For touch-ups, 1-2 hours long.
• Mattie will begin “brow-mapping” where she will measure your brows using a number of fixed points to get an even and symmetrical shape.
• She will then apply numbing cream for your comfort.
• Together, while the numbing cream takes effect, you will choose the colour of your pigment.
• The technician will then use a digital PMU machine to insert tiny dots of pigment into the skin to create the brows.
• After your service is complete, Mattie will go over your aftercare.

After your appointment: Aftercare 

Healing Stages:

• Day 1-3: your brows will be dark and you may see some swelling and redness which will fade within 3 days.
• Day 3-5: brows will look dark and begin to scab, flake off, and itching may occur. Do not itch or pick scabs.
• Day 6-8: Brows will begin peeling, and you may notice some patchiness. This is good, it means the brows are healing.
• Day 8-12: The flaking will stop, and the true colour returns.
• Day 12-30: Your brows will be completely healed.

Aftercare: 

Expect your brows to be two shades darker and 30% larger for the first 5 days. Brows WILL lighten as they heal! It will take one month for the colour to fully set in.

• Do not pick, scratch, or rub areas as this will result in loss of pigment and scarring.
• Do not get your brows wet for 3 days after your procedure. This includes showering, swimming, and sweating.
• No waxing/threading/tweezing for 2-3 weeks.
• No makeup around eye area for 5 days.
• No exfoliating for 10 days.
• Avoid heavy creams and scented soaps throughout the healing process.
• Avoid hot tubs, saunas, pools, facials, and steams for 10 days.
• Note that drinking alcohol in access with slow down the healing process.
• Do not get botox for 4 weeks after the procedure.
• Stay out of direct sunlight for 10 days, and be sure to apply SPF on your brows after the 10 days are up.

Cleaning your brows:

• After 4 days, apply a rice sized amount of coconut oil on the brows twice a day for 7 days.
• On Day 4-10 also be sure to rinse your brows with a non-scented soap and pat dry, being mindful of any scabbing.
